Vice President Kamala Harris is the first bi-racial Asian Pacific Islander and Black woman to seek the Office of the U.S. President.  
 

When elected, she will be the first woman to hold this office. We know Kamala because she has been there on our picket lines, walked a day in our shoes of a homecare worker and a security guard.  As the daughter of immigrant parents from Jamaica and India, Kamala has lived the experience of many immigrant families and grown up in the civil rights movement.

 

She has participated in numerous API events over the years, most recently, the APIAVote 2024 event in Philadelphia, PA in July.  She also spoke at the SEIU Convention in May, 2024. She has consistently spoken out on issues of concern for our communities including anti-Asian hate, breaking the glass ceiling, advocating for immigrant rights, and reproductive freedom.

 

We are ready to support Kamala in our API communities and our workplaces to build a successful coalition to defeat Donald Trump.  Trump seeks to reverse years of progress around climate change, and racial and gender disparities. He seeks to remove millions of hard-working undocumented immigrants, and block desperate immigrants from obtaining asylum, Trump will also support further restrictions on abortion and heighten international tensions.  We must do all we can do to defeat the ultra-conservatives led by Trump from taking control of both houses of Congress and the White House.  API voters will be critical in numerous battleground states and we need to mobilize our SEIU API members and the API community to elect Kamala Harris for President and once again defeat Trump and the white supremacists from returning to power.
