SEIU API Caucus Statement on the Escalating Tensions Between India and Pakistan

The SEIU Asian Pacific Islanders Caucus stands firmly for peace over conflict. In light of the escalating war tensions between India and Pakistan, we raise our voices for peace and diplomacy. 

Our communities, rich in heritage and diverse in experiences, know too well the pain of war and the value of unity. Workers and families on both sides of any border bear the heaviest burden of violence—losing loved ones, livelihoods, and the promise of a secure future.

War is never just a clash of armies. War is a tragedy that tears apart communities, disrupts lives, and sows seeds of hatred for generations. We reject the language of aggression, and we call on leaders in India and Pakistan to prioritize diplomacy, dialogue, and mutual respect. There is no honor in the suffering of our people.

We urge all leaders to seek reconciliation and peaceful solutions. We urge all leaders to build bridges and to  focus on the real needs of their people – education, healthcare, jobs, and safety. 

Our vision is a world where communities thrive together, not one where they are torn apart by conflict. 

Let us stand together for peace and unity.
